The Lost Hero ending

The Lost Hero ending

***Book spoilers***

Jason, Leo and Piper fly over the Richmond Bridge with Leo as the pilot. He had never flown one before but controlled the helicopter smoothly. Trying to make them feel at more ease, he inquires about the Wolf House that is their current destination.

Jason speaks and tells them who built it - Jack London. He explains how he made himself wealthy off of writing and how the land there was sacred. He tells he came back and tried to construct a house there because it was where he started his journey as a demigod. Piper is amazed at his knowledge of the land and further asks how he knows this. Jason tells them he also started his journey there.

The ride goes silent, as Leo thinks about his mother, and Piper chimes in, asking if her father will ever be the same again after the incident on Mt. Diablo. They near the Wolf House, noticing the weather taking a turn for the worst. The wind picks up, which Leo then battles for control of the aircraft.

Jason, Leo and Piper see the house and try to land but that option is soon gone. They all decide to leap from the helicopter, taking the best alternative to reach the ground, away from what tragedy is about to happen. Seconds later, the helicopter explodes in a loud boom.

The three of them realize fighting is occurring all over the property. Thalia runs through the fog in an attempt to reach her brother. An ogre appears behind her but she quickly disposes of the nuissance. Thalia quickly tells them the situation about how her troops are being overwhelmed by the mass numbers of their enemies.

Jason asks where Hera is imprisoned. His sister tells him but tells him the location, but he must hurry before she perishes. Thalia reveals her sibling and she both came here before. Jason tells his sister Hera insisted his mother give him to Lupa.

With time running out, they leave and with that the conversation ends. When they enter the room, they see spires that are dark and tall.  They see a cage too, which holds Hera. Thalia tells speaks her mind to Hera, whose prepared to leave her behind to be consumed by Gaea.

Jason steps in and meditates. Thalia backs down only by her brothers words. Leo begins working on setting Hera free. Hera explains what the spire holds - the king of the giants. Hera conveys that when he awakens two options will become available: join him in matrimony or be eaten by Gaea.

Leo continues to work on the cage. Hera becomes antsy and nervous as time dwindles down. Leo remembers the prophecy, requesting Piper's assistance. She obliges and helps him. Seconds later the room feels eerie and a cold air has moved in an unnatural air.

Venti and Wolves storm the room and one releases a frozen girl from its mouth. They see that the girl is Thalia. Khione emerges from the ranks of monsters. Jason and his friends hold their ground while the goddess speaks to them about her plans for the hunters. She tells them how she arranged the closing of Olympus by telling Zeus and convincing Hera to come to Wolf House, etc.

Piper tries to negotiate, admitting her flaws with the plan and informing them they will decimate the world. Khione tries to persuade Leo to be her champion since he has an attraction to the goddess. He refuses and the monsters charge them.

Jason fights with ferocity to combat the wolves. Piper is holding off earthborn, while Leo engages the snow goddess herself. Their enemies numbers go down until there are no more, even Khione flees and dissipates leaving a snow image of her.

Hera starts to sink into the Earth, as Gaea begins to claim her. Porphyrion rises from the spire and is more intimidating than the one they fought on the mountain. The Giant asks who Jason is and he truthfully tells. He gloats of his titles and gives him a recollection of past events of how the Giants nearly claimed victory and this time they will.

New enemies appear, awaiting the command to kill him and his friends. He buys his friends more time by continuing to speak with the King of the Giants. Jason lunges at him, cutting the ear of the Giant. Enraged, he retaliates, threatening to kill him.

Before he can, Hera is set free. Unable to kill him this time he hits his spear and instantly vanishes. Hera shows her true form, but Jason is caught watching it. His sister blames the goddess for killing her only remaining sibling. He begins to breathe and awakens.

The ambiance changes from dread to pure jubilance, as their friend and brother are still somehow miraculously alive.  Thalia says her goodbyes and the hunters and her leave. Piper questions Jason further to what happened after he was left here.

Hera intervenes and releases the truth that he was given a destiny and into her servitude. Hera tells him he left and went to a camp similar to Camp Half-Blood.  Hera aids them in transportation back to the camp by teleporting tem to the camp itself.

Piper challenges the head of the cabin to a duel. The responsibilities are given to her, making her Head of the Aphrodite house. She contacts Gleeson, who has been hired as assistant to her father after his former one did a horrid job. She also sees Mellie, a former employee of Aeolus, she too now works for her father - the famous movie star. Then she talks to her father. After the call is concluded she goes out to meet Jason and speaks to him.

Leo’s cabin mates discover that their friend has the rare power of being able to use fire. He guides his friends to a bunker that holds schematics, maps etc. One cabin mate finds a map dated 1864.

Chiron admits that they participated in the war. He tells them after the war, they erased all memories from both sides of one another and made sure they never met on quests. He tells them that Jason, Piper and Leo are among the three of seven to complete the prophecy foretold by the Oracle (Rachel).

Jason has a dream where he remembers his old friends. In his dream Juno comes to him, conveying that he must succeed in the quest and that all his memories will return eventually. The book ends with Piper interrupting his lee pans saying that Chiron has summoned the Council.
